About
The Short Version
Frederick Weller is a business problem-solver who happens to use AI and analytics as instruments — not an AI specialist looking for problems to apply a model to. That distinction shapes almost everything he does as a business and data analytics consultant.
Background
Before analytics, Frederick spent years in corporate finance, sales, and early-stage business operations, alongside eight years of adjunct teaching at the community-college level. That combination — finance discipline, sales pragmatism, and the instinct to explain things clearly — is why his work tends to focus on getting the problem right before touching a dataset.
He holds an MBA, an MS in Finance, and an MS in Data Analytics, and is currently completing an MS in Artificial Intelligence (expected June 2028).
How He Thinks About This Work
A recurring pattern Frederick has documented: technical experts are frequently asked to solve the wrong problem, because the business hands the problem off to IT/analytics too early — before the problem itself is properly defined across the organization. He calls the resulting error a “Type III error,” and it’s the throughline connecting his advisory work, his portfolio projects, and his teaching.
In practice, that means:
- Asking “what decision does this analysis inform?” before “what model should I use?”
- Treating cross-functional framing as part of the analytical work, not a delay before it
- Staying skeptical of technically elegant answers to poorly-defined questions
